Quechua peoples and Q’eqchi are from ancient civilizations and proud of their culture, their history and have a strong identity as I witness it in my travels. These are people who do not like to be observed and exposed to the eyes of strangers. I have to gain their trust and keep a low profile to be accepted in the villages. But once admitted among the locals, I am free to observe them in their daily lives. I am curious by nature and I ask all kinds of questions about their activities. They show me and describe me their customs. The current flows and we exchange our ideas; we philosophize about the nature of our world and our very different cultures. Their beliefs and their vision of life is a mixture of reflection and spirituality. I listen with interest to stories of their ancestors and I observe the customs they have inherited from previous generations. These are magical moments.
